Rooster behavior... again

Nugget - I wish you the best of luck. I know what you mean about being worried about him yet will miss him if he is gone. We had to rehome my rooster named Nugget and I have missed him ever since. In our latest batch of babies we ended up accidentally getting another roo. He is a buff orp. He is almost 16 weeks old now and still has no idea that he is a roo. I have been faithful about each family member holding him at least once through out the day. I am hoping this will make a big difference and we will be able to keep him. He hasn't even started to crow yet. I really miss that sound!!

I can see missing the sound. It went down my spine like nails on a chalkboard at first but now I actually enjoy it! I'm happy you found a potential friendly little rooster. I have 7 cockerels/roosters so if this fellow takes the 4 he said he wants it leaves 3... and I have 1 more caller in the wings. If I end up keeping one of the remaining cockerels, I can't say it would be the end of the world

At least for a while anyways.

Last year I found a farmer who took 4 (young) cockerels from me (the breeder I get them from has a knack for giving me males) and I learned that they became nasty as they grew up and that their feathers have since been turned into fly lures. I felt guilty hearing that one went after the farmer's granddaughter. Darn roosters

My middle son has a scar above his right eye from our Nugget. He was bending over to fillthe waterer and ... Well he was rehomed that same day. He went to my Uncles where he has plenty of room to roam and no children to torture!! It was either that or DH said he would shoot him!! I felt so bad. He was just doing what he thought he should I am sure.

Looks like I've been left hanging again. He didn't show, or send a message that he'd changed his mind. Why request numbers, breeds and a time to pick them up, and not come?

Don't feel like I'll ever get them rehomed...

Sorry about your son Nuggetsowner, that's a good reason for a rooster to get rehomed
