Rooster behavior at 6 weeks?

I have 4 six-week old chicks. We took them out of their small coop into the yard for introductions to one of our more calm adult hens. 3 of my chicks adored the adult hen. Wanted to follow her around, etc. And when she gently pecked at them, they would scurry away. However, my one chick WENT AFTER the adult hen! Stood up tall. Poofed her/his neck feathers. Tried to jump at her quite aggressively and wouldn't back down when she got angry. We intervened of course, but it happened over and over until we put the adult back in the large coop. I was shocked by this. Does this definitely mean rooster? We got them from a hatchery (all supposed to be female). Even if the little one is a rooster, I'm still shocked that it went after a fully grown hen at only six weeks of age! I've had 2 other juvenile roosters before (that I couldn't keep due to them being roos) and they never acted like that with the adult hens!!! Thoughts?

That doesn't mean rooster. At 6 weeks most roosters already have big pink red combs. You should be able to tell, or post a photo.

Not necessarily. I have a few girls that act aggressively. Chest bumping, fluffing out their feathers behavior. They're just as ballsy as my cockerel with some stuff. I watch one knock the others off the roost all the time.

I just think I got a few tomboyish pullets.

The ones here all tried.that.at least once, boys and girls.
I don't intervene though.
Act like a hen, get treated like a hen.
Extremely good incentiive to not be a nuisance, those get sat on

My 6-7 week old boys and girls do this. I don't think it's a given that it's a rooster. I agree that at that age you should be able to tell by comb and wattles.

Thanks everyone! I'm reluctant to go by the comb and wattles though. I have had a Speckled Sussex as well as an Americauna in the past with very large (red) and combs at 6 weeks of age. I thought those would be roos but they turned out to be very lovely pullets. So I'll just wait and see what this one. Thanks for the replies!! It's nice to know I still have hope!

Very likely,have never had a pullet back not back down to an adult hen or even attempt to try,escpecially this young.Maybe four or five months of age but never that young,could you post a picture.
