Ended 2026 BYC Calendar Photo Contest - We Need Your Pictures!

This is Caty, a Silkie and her Silkie chick (on her back). Another hen hatched the other chicks who are Silkie Eggers, but she demanded out a week later, so Caty took them in. Sadly the Silkie chick suddenly passed at 32 days old and Caty followed, also passing week later with no explanation. The other chicks are doing well.

Silkie and 4 Silkie Eggers - all hatched 6/24/25 under 2 hens.

Taken 6/30/24, 5 month old Cassidy with 4 week old store bought chicks. Cassidy was injured by an overzealous large rooster at 4 months old. The white chick (Star) near her head has never left her, she's still with momma over a year later. The young rooster in the back was named Dodge, he died protecting some ladies from a hawk. The other 2 are in my big coop.

"She left the gate open, I'll be lookout, the rest hurry out." Taken 1/23/24 ( the next day my youngest son passed at 36, 9 days later my oldest son, 38, had a massive heart attack and passed as well).

@casportpony, What other calendar contest are available each year? I think I can recall one for ducks, but my guineas are are bit jealous and would like to know if there's a contest for them.

aww that’s so nice! I got two and got totally hooked on their personality and the rest is history lol. They’re so curious and unique, nosey, zero boundaries. I trained my first Owlbeard girl to climb on my hand and ride my arm around the yard… between that and the soft fluffy beards I couldn’t help it- then I needed ALL the beards
