Rooster Behavior?

He sounds like a good roo. But like I said, you just need to make your decision soon. My Randy was hatched last year with my RIR hens. He was always more personable than the hens. We did go through a bit of a rough patch when his hormones peaked around 12 months. I separated him for nearly 4 months, but now he is with the girls and is doing a great job. Even through his confinement he was never aggressive with me. I feel fortunate.
 
It sounds like the dominant boy is doing a good job, why not keep him? If he isn't human aggressive and is good with the girls, not beating up the other boys and the flock naturally seems to follow him, he may actually be your best choice.

One of the other boys will take over the role if you get rid of him, but in my experience it hasn't caused a change in size...They're only going to get as big as genetics will allow.
