I have a Delaware rooster who is a little over a year old and I should start by saying that I have never had a single problem between him and my hens. I recently transitioned 8 week old chicks into a run to make introduction easier as my flock free ranges. In the last few days my rooster is walking around the run putting his face up to the fence and allowing the chicks to peck his face. Is this normal behavior? I’ve introduced chicks another time and he didn’t do this before

It almost sounds as if he is bonding with the chicks. @Shadrach what do you think?
I hope so! He’s done really well with chicks but he’s still pretty young and I just want to make sure his temperament isn’t changing so I try to watch him closely

Both my roosters Jack and Buddy do this. They are being a father to them, possibly they can sense it. 🤷‍♀️ To put simply, they are bonding with them. That is great!
