Rooster Behavior

I agree about the child rearing and rock throwing.

One of my parents tried to convince me that his 2 year old should be allowed to chase and flap her arms and yell at my rooster if she thought it got to close. Now, this is my good rooster. My old one would have taken her down. I told him flat out 'no' He also thinks that this is how people and kids should deal with aggressive dogs. Never back down and look week.

So, let me know if I am wrong, but I can not see this turning into the best interest of the child (even long term.)

You are so right. With a dog by all means back down. Never face it and don't make eye contact. And don't run away, slowly move to a safe location. A child that young is no match for even a small dog.

Personally I never handle the roosters we have with the layers and I have only had one challenge me in 30+ years of keeping them. A silver Leghorn. Our Asils and Malays get handled nearly every day as do our NNs with no problem at all.
