Rooster bleeding heavily from injured comb -- bleedding won't stop!

Super glue is even used by doctors, so it's not crazy.

Thing is, the wound will still bring attention to his injury and the others will keep ripping at it, so whatever you do, keep him isolated.

Yep super glue was invented for medics in the field during war.

This is what I would try -- though I don't know that isolating the bully or top guy works as well for roosters as hens.

Excellent suggestions, you guys! It's been so helpful to hear your experiences and ideas. Thank you!

I can see where keeping him isolated for a couple of weeks would be a good thing. And I like the idea of putting him back outside, in the crate, where he and Chanty can see each other but not hurt each other. And giving Chanticleer a bath right before Walker is reintroduced! Genius! :)

Bless his little heart, Walker has been such a great little sport through all of this! He's submitted to all of our "experiments" to try to stop the bleeding, some of which had to sting or otherwise cause him pain. And he's allowed us to bathe him, to try to get all that blood off his feathers. Never so much as a peep or even the hint of a struggle, on his part. So much for big, scary, aggressive roosters, eh? We've hand-raised a number of roosters now, and every single one of them has been a sweetie. It was amazing watching Walker yesterday. He seems to know, somehow, that bumbling as we are, we're trying to help him. It's just amazing -- awe-inspiring, really.

And we're realizing, too -- yet again -- that building trust between us and our chickens (or any critter, including us humans), is such an important thing. Such perfect trust takes a long time to build, and it can be shattered so easily. But the rewards are great, indeed.

Last night, after his final meal of the day, Walker came over and jumped into my husband's lap, hunkered down, and just wanted to be petted. He just went "limp", closed his eyes, and soaked it up. (Actually, my husband kinda' did the same thing...) It was a beautiful moment, seeing the two of them like that -- especially after everything we had put Walker through during the day.

It's the moments like that one that make us feel rich beyond measure.

Thank you to all of you who helped make it possible.
Karlen
