Rooster bloody tail, being pecked, feathers broken off

My last update regarding Billy- he has heeled up nicely now that I identified the hens that were attacking them and removed his entire harem (he was not happy about that)! I put him in with our chicken who thoroughly hates every other hen and we now have a decent arrangement. The new couple have their own coop, he swoons about everything she does, and I think her attitude is one of benign neglect; she could take him or leave him so he doesn’t annoy her any more than he amuses her. Perfect marriage, from what I can tell.

Feathers are notorious for breaking clots. You might have to pull the worst bleeders from the base. Cornstarch or flour packed in a wound will stop bleeding, but for birds qwickstop works best in my experience. Use good old fashioned iodine to disenfect, it works wonders and doesn’t hurt. Chickens will go after a roosters tail if he is being mean or they’re mad at him. Even losing one tail feather can make a bird a little depressed and quieter. If all your birds are fighting do they have enough space in the coop and run?

Hopefully the OP will see your post and respond, she hasn't been on since Feb and the thread hasn't had any activity since Dec.
