I am giving my hen who has broken broodiness after 2.5 weeks and not doing well Rooster Booster poultry cell in a syringe (1cc or 1 mg. each AM). Anyone think it would be too much to give this 6 pound duck a second dose in the evening?

You could because the recommended dosage is 1-3 cc once per day. Thus, if you're going with the low end of 1 cc twice a day, you're still under the max recommendation. It's also recommended to do this for a week. You could give her a few days off and do it again if you felt it necessary.

There are some vitamins or minerals in there that they excrete what's not needed, but others are absorbed by their organs, so you wouldn't want them to get too much of something.

I took her to the vet today and they did an xray. Turns out she has an ectopic egg stuck in her lower abdomen. The vet gave her some supplements to see if she'll pass it and we'll just wait and see. Meanwhile she can barely walk (is very wobbly) and isn't eating. I'm supposed to give her 1/2 of 500mg/125 mg amox/clav twice a day. Not sure how I can get these horse pills (which will also be sharp once split) down her throat and I see they didn't even try. That bothers me the most. Been able to give the poultry cell and homeopathic pellets but these things seem beyond me (and her).

Can you crush and add to a warm water enough to make it a liquid and give it to her by syringe? We have info on giving liquid by mouth if you need it.

Maybe. It will be a lot. Please send me the info you have. I don't know if she will fight even harder because of the awful taste!

I asked the vet about that and they have a concern that it may not all go in and then the dose will not be right. If not, that could cause other issues - like overgrowth of certain bacteria.
I called them today and let them know I don't like this particular antibiotic. I am waiting to hear back.
She is still not eating anything and releases only green colored liquid.

Ask for a liquid it’s crazy for any vet to think you can give a duck a horse pill. Green poop even green watery poop can be from not eating. Ask about tube feeding her they can’t go long with out eating. No sign of an egg yet?

I’d still lean on giving calcium gluconate.

No, no sign of an egg. They didn't even mention giving additional calcium gluconate. I have no idea how much was in the shot. They said it may take a while but again she has not eaten anything in at least 2 days, maybe three and very little before that for a few days. Yesterday she was down to 4 lb. 8 oz. from 5.5 pounds. I'll ask about a liquid. It's interesting that sent me home with the pills but did not dose her before we left (at the visit).

As of today she has a rattling sound when she makes any noises. Should I be concerned about pneumonia? in other ways (the way she is moving and he willingness to do so) she seems better.
