Rooster breed??

Ok thanks so much. Another question?? If he fertilizes my eggs - I have a Salmon Favorelle hen, some Easter Eggers, Rhode Island, and some silkies -- is it BAD to let em hatch out and see what we get? R there any risks? And will they grow up to be good layers??

What a gorgeous roo! Looks like he has something barred in his background. His comb might be a single/pea hybrid - or maybe single/rose? I think you should totally hatch out his babies! I think they'll be really pretty, and their colors might shed some more light on his ancestry. Hard to tell if they'll be good layers; you'll have to hatch and see!

most or all of his chicks will be barred. His barring isnt very wide, so I think he may only have 1 copy of the gene, so you may get some non-barred chicks.

If your hens are good layers, chicks should be good layers. Being hybrids doesnt make them better layers.

Thank you. I just may get an incubator and see what I get?? Was hesitant to create hybrids.

Oh, I'd breed him in a heartbeat. Just remember you need a plan for his sons!

I agree, I see mixed heritage. Something barred, a generation or so back, and I also think the comb looks like straight and rose or pea mixed. He's very upright, so maybe some game or something. Whatever, he'll make you some pretty babies.
