Rooster bug help

Day 4 and he had a small batch around his vent this morning. I washed him again and I swear these things are immune to water so I gave him a little oatmeal bath. When I hold him under the water for a bit there is just as many as there was yesterday and there was today. I swear I never get rid of all them. Could these be something else at this point? They look like little black tiny balls around his vent. I did see a few red ones mixed in there but not as bad as the black.

Also my girlfriend and I are chemical sensitivity and we have dogs and cats that run around. So if there is something else I could try that not harsh that's strong if that makes sense I am game at this point. If not I am calling the vet on Monday.

Thanks!
Joe

:welcome :frow If you use one product the pests can develop a resistance to it. I use Permethrin. I treat weekly for 3 or 4 weeks and I treat the coops thoroughly everywhere every crack and crevice. I use a backpack sprayer because I have several coops so when I treat one coop I treat them all but in the past I have used a gallon sprayer with a wand to reach the hard to get to areas. I use poultry dust in the nest boxes. No insecticide will kill the pest eggs so repeat treatments are a must to kill the pests as they hatch out. As with Elector PSP there is no egg withdrawal period so the egg are safe to eat. Good luck...

I am on week 2 of this and so far week one went well. Nothing come back or anything so I just did a follow up just to play it safe. I may go 3 weeks but so far nothing. He seems to be getting his strength back but doesn't stand up well. Could also be from age.

Thanks again!!
