Rooster Butt turning bumpy red. Picture

Does anyone know what is happening to my rooster bottom. The red area right below his rectum is all bumpy red and lost his feather. Picture below shows.

Wow, that looks terrible! I have no idea what it could be... hopefully someone with more experience will see it and be able to help.
 
Yeah, I looked at the pic earlier and had no idea what it might be. Is it raw or is it imflamed follicles (or whtever they are called where the feathers come out) couldit be mites of some sort that might have burrowed under the flesh? Is he in pain? Really no clue. Hope you find an answer and a treatment.
 
Those look like really inflammed feather follicles. Is he a really randy rooster? Many roosters are irritated there due to the 'friction' that happens while they mount and mate. There is probably some retained moisture as well. If this is a really randy rooster, I would separate him from his girls for 2-3 weeks, treat for external mites/lice just in case (carbaryl or pyrethrin, not DE), warm compress the area daily- and see what happens.
