I have a Buff Orpington rooster. Je's a year old. He's acting fine for the most part, but I've just noticed today that his left eye is closed. His right eye is completely fine, and I know he was okay two days ago.
He got into a fight with another rooster that me and family had already been contemplating getting rid of, but that rooster hadn't done anything until a few days ago when the Buff Orpington and this rooster got into a fight. I separated them, and that rooster was taken away. I tried to clean up the Buff Orpington's comb to make sure nothing got infected, but now his eye is closed.
I'll still have to grab him and look at it a little closer, but from the picture I took of him, I believe it is swollen.
When I gave my chickens some treats, he normally runs over to eat it. He did run over, but he didn't really eat the food. He occasionally waits to eat and let hens eat first, but he just didn't take any of the treats. It might be due to his vision.
I'll add in a comment below any extra details once I get a hold of him and look at his eye closer.
I just need help knowing what course of action I should take. It's obviously from the fight, but how should I take care of his eye and make sure he's okay?
