I have some 6 week old chicks, which of course some are roosters. The other day one of the little rooster chicks flew onto the isolation coop outside and tried his first ever "crow". I have to say it was a rather pathetic effort, but it startled him and the flock so much they all ran for cover! It was so funny to see. I think he has been traumatised by his first ever crow as he has not tried since! Got to laugh at chickens - never a dull moment!

Haha, roosters first crows are usually so pathetic. They kinda sound like flat horns squeezing out their last breath of air. Within a few weeks though you're going to have to get used to a walking trumpet!

i am sure that the fun will begin very soon - around 3am, then 4am... The wife will be delighted! She has enjoyed a few cockerel free weeks as the one we had turned nasty, but was also very tasty! We also have a 4 month old cockerel whose voice has not yet broken, let alone crowed!
