Rooster Collar for Hen?

One of my hens can be quite loud, almost a crow. She'll do this when shes been sitting in the nest box, after shes laid an egg, or whenever. I live in a suburban neighboorhood, so the loud egg song or crowing is a problem. Im wondering if a Rooster Collar would work to make her songs and crows not so loud?

My personal take on it, is that they're not overly effective, and somewhat cruel.
