Rooster Communication . . What does this Mean?

Not all alarm calls the same. They have different meanings. Mine give an alarm for owls that is very different from that for fox or hawk. Call given in video is not one that comes even close to what a rooster does when hens doing the "egg song". Dogs definitely say alarm call as they do not get excited otherwise.
It comes very close to the response call of some roosters here.;)

I'd believe @centrarchid's dogs more than anyone else,

because the dogsknows!

Rather than concentrating on the sounds from the rooster, listen to the hen in the background. Usually an alarm call is taken up instantly by other flock members. The hen is moving around completely unconcerned.

I would say he is responding to an escort call given by one of his hens.
Some sound more hysterical than others.;)
What happens is the hen makes the escort call and this is similar enough to the roosters response call I've heard here for me to be reasonably confident that this is what the call means.
It's a bit like the husband shouting yes I heard you dear to his wife when he's called for something.
This article explains a bit about it.

Yes, that makes more sense than it being an alarm call. I know both of Harvey's alarm calls and they are short and the hens either run or freeze immediately. The hens weren't even near him (except for one further into the run at that time). Thanks!

Close to the sound made at the same time the hens have finished laying.
I can hear the rooster better than the hens, most days and Harvey's more melodic tone dosen't sound as urgent as an alarm call.
Harvey has a lovely soft voice for such a big guy, my dude sounds like a chain smoking Miami retiree.:)
