Do you have hens with the roosters? I think some roos are protective of their 'girls' and see the humans as an enemy... some Roo's are just genetically inclined to be mean roosters as some breeds are more aggressive than others. at certain stages of life the hormones spike and make the even more crazy. I don't think I'd say it is how they are raised and kept.. Just my 2 cents on roosters.I was just reading some stuff online about people having so much trouble with there roosters. I mean there attacking there owners even neighborhood children. I know roosters do have a mean streek but I must be lucky my 4 roosters are the sweetest things. Every day I go and sit on a milk crate in there pen and everyday thay come right to me. Thay will hope up on my lap and ill rub them like u would a dog.the smallest one likes to sit on my shoulder and he will gently rub his head on my cheek. But I don't know what's going on with other peoples roosters maybe its how there being raised or even kept. Anybody else have any ideas why alot of peoples roosters are going nuts?
I have 8 roos on the farm right now,out of those only 2 you have to watch, the rest are good guys.I was just reading some stuff online about people having so much trouble with there roosters. That is a great idea. I do keep mine with some hens, I like to hatch chicks from time to time, but I think the ladies are the reason my two problem guys are so defensive.I took a lot of care to make sure our roosters will never even see the girls.the rooster's have a huge pen with and its under a roof. At sertin times of the day I let my boys out and thay go back in the pen at a certain time. This will probably sound nuts but we have a guest house and its a studio apartment. It was never being used so I figured why not I put a wall down the middle of it and one side was for chicks and the other side is my coop. And my girls have there own way outside and thay never come in contact with the roosters. It might sound nuts but it works.
