Hey Friends,

Hope all is well on your side of the world. What is everybody up to? Oh- sorry I'm sidetracked, so I made this contest in hopes to see new varieties, cross breeds, pure breeds, roosters!

You are aloud to enter the maximum of eight roosters. Please don't pass this thread if you have or had a rooster or eight... Enter! Minimum of rooster entered from one soul: One.

Things I am looking for in a rooster: A reasonable background, colors, strength, stance, personality, funny things in the photo. I am also looking for a backup judge... Please send me a message on my profile saying you would like to be a judge for the rooster contest... The first message I get is the judge that works with me!

We will speak in a private message about who we think should win. Sounds good or silly? Please tell the truth. This thread is based upon honesty. You think I'm nuts? Tell the truth. Ha. Honesty...

Anyhow, here is the example:

Name: (Can be real, unknown or unnamed).
Age: (Preferably known but unknown is fine).
Breed: (May be a cross breed or pure. If cross breed, please state what the bloodlines are).

Here is the actual form you may copy and paste:

Have fun!!
Any question or concerns, please send me a PM.

Name: Henry (Nicknames: King Henry, Henry the 1st or Big Henry)
Age: ~2 yrs
Breed: Welsummer

Background: I got Henry from a free ad. He was the scrawniest cockerel there (about 4wks old). I fell in love at first sight... We had other chickens... but they where all adults. As a consequence, Henry was lonely and followed me around... He also found comfort in snuggling in my sweatshirt pocket... which was odd. Even after we picked up some companion pullets for him (2wks later), he still tried to squeeze in that sweatshirt pocket... although he was sadly to big.

He formed a very unusual relationship with our mastiff dog (yeah... she was 120 pounds... he was less than 1 at the time). Henry just hung out with that big dog (even after he got companions) which absolutely thrilled the mastiff... He would lay in the grass between her big paws and she would lay her huge head next to his and lick him... (sadly I do not have photos of that; my camera was out of order).

Henry eventually grew up and turned out to be the best rooster I had ever owned... or met. He is big, watches out for his hens like nobody's business... but yet, is so gentle that little kids come over and play with him. One day, a hawk took interest in the chickens... quickly getting lower... and lower. Henry quickly rounded up his hens into the bushes. Then... he did something strange... He ran out into the middle of the lawn at top speed. He stopped. Then he crowed... and crowed. Apparently he was at least somewhat intimidating because the hawk hesitated in its advance and flew elsewhere.

Name: Captain Jack Sparrow
Age: About 16 weeks
Breed: Mix

Captain is one of my favorite chickens, and I absolutely love his coloring. He has no problem being picked up and walked around. He very much enjoys sitting on peoples' laps and falling asleep. Despite him being the only rooster in his flock, he is still being bossed around by all the other older hens and still isn't trying to get to the top of the pecking order. Captain always knows which hens to stick around with, and already has a favorite hen, Pidge. He's such a sweetheart and is yet to show any aggression.

Name: HeiHei
Age: 4 yrs old
Breed: Cream legbar

He is a gentleman of a rooster. He always looks after his hens and especially chicks. He often with politely follow around any hens taking care of little chickies to pay close attention to them. He has never once shown aggression to a human or even any chickens that aren't apart of his flock, except my silkie rooster, Indiana Jones. Him and Indiana Jones used to despise one another but have gotten over that and can now coexist with eachother. Also recently, he has broken off one of his spurs, reason unknown. Fact: his comb is that way because one winter he got frostbite and the top of his comb fell off.

Here's my entries.
Mine don't have names because I don't name my chickens.
While they are pets they are also for showing and breeding.
It would be hard to remember 45 chicken names lol :D

Gorgeous birds! :wee
I love the white one... Does he have a slight cross-beak? In the photo, it appears like his beak is slightly curved to the side... but that is just from the photo. :p
