Rooster Crowing…should I be concerned??

I have a 12 week old BCM rooster that I hatched in April. He is 1 of 6 I hatched, 4 of which I think are roosters. I know it’s too many roosters and am figuring out who to keep still. My BCM is definitely the largest, has been crowing for several weeks and is the only one to crow, so I know he is the head guy. No aggression issues so far, they still all snuggle each other and seem pretty docile. I have noticed that in addition to his normal morning calls this guy now crows when he sees me, no matter the time of day. I am the caregiver and he doesn’t crow for anyone else. I handle all the chickens including him and he seems to enjoy scratches and doesn’t mind when I pick him up to move him around. At first I felt pretty special he is only crowing for me, but then I got to thinking…is he trying to tell me he is the boss? I will kinda crow back to him once and a while and he isn’t fazed and doesn’t seem to be aggressively crowing at me or anything. But, isn’t crowing a way to establish pecking order? So why does he do it to only me? Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

Hey, I always kept roosters with my girls mainly because they keep the hens in order and with enough care they actually become friendlier than hens. When my dear rooster was alive and young he would crow every time he heard me. Even if I returned at midnight he would crow. He never showed any aggression towards me or even tried to court me, but he loved to spent time with me more then with the hens. This isn't something you should be worried about.

I have 7 cockerels that hatched April 10, so just about 12 weeks old. 5 for sure are crowing, and they seem to enjoy extra crowing when they see me.

My rooster stands at the fence separating the younger ones from the main flock and crows at them. They crow back, and he does it again. He has a really nice crow. They are more like ar-ar-ar-ar. It's kind of cute. I also have some that are almost 9 weeks old, but they aren't crowing yet.

I wouldn't worry about them crowing at you. They are probably just happy that their servant is there, hopefully with food and water.

Don't try to read too much into crowing at 12 weeks.
Crowing is really only how roosters communicate to the world. I don't think it has any thing to do with aggression or dominance.
Sometimes I'll have a dozen roosters out all crowing at the same time. I never see aggression associated with it. When there is aggression, there is no crowing involved. I never hear any sound out of them if they want to go after another one.

My Silkie Roosters would crow when I was on 1) talking on the telephone, 2) holding Teams Meetings online in my office in the barn. They would crow up such a storm when I was talking to others (phone/meetings) that I had to lock them away to hear and be heard hahaha. It was a great conversation starter with people :)

As for aggression - they never showed aggression when crowing, either to me or the others.
