Rooster crowing.

Roosters crow whenever they please. I would prefer a quieter one but i know that isnt possible.
My cockerel who is crowing was crowing all day and today only crowed until 10 a.m so

Mine will crow at night if they see a flashlight or something. 😂
Same! Or when the moon hits the coop 😂
I walk outside and he crows at me! So funny!

Funny. My boys are thusfar fairly quiet. But there is an exception. When I go out to feed them and check on them they start to crow. I am wondering if this is an announcement of the food coming to the girls, an interaction with me, or a statement of “yeah bring the food but remember I am the boss”. I know there are many reasons and variations but I find it odd they thusfar only crow when I visit.

Thoughts?

It's frustrating. Many of the calls roosters make are explainable; they're given for a reason which sometimes is quite obvious; the roosting call for example. It doesn't take a lot of obsevation to see when a rooster makes such and such a call, this or that happens. When it comes to crowing, it seems the call encompasses many possible communications.

Roosters don’t just crow in the mornings. LoL mine seems to crow all the time at all hours of the day. I sometimes find my self telling him to shut up!
I hear you. Pun intended. Charles hardly crowed at all when we had a second rooster. Literally two hours after I adopted the other guy out Charles started talking. Being alpha now I guess is a thing. He chatters all day long. Definitely when the food is coming and after I leave. And then…. All. Day. Long. I swear I hear him crowing in my head when he isn’t saying a word.
