Rooster crowling at night

Don’t know why the rooster keeps crowling at night. It’s dark and there is no predator around.

Sometimes they just do that.
He could be hearing something that you don't.

Mine always crows at night, usually starting about 3:30 or 4 a.m. On the other hand, he rarely has anything to say during the day.

My rooster crows 24/7/365 but he tends to crow at night and mornings unless he hears a rooster a country block away, then he crows in response.
I have notice that if I can hear the owls, bobcat, cougar, fisher, or another animal at night, he will continue to crow in response.
