I have a Rooster named Ares; alpha of the flock and pretty beefy. I question why sometimes his comb is a bright vivid red yet other times his comb has some dark berry red, slightly purple tips and feels pretty cold. I live in Florida which is not known for chilly weather, and he eats pretty well. Ares does fight against my other rooster from time to time to but my other Rooster doesn't really fight back. Any answers onto what causes it because I'm stumped. Here's a picture if it helps.

I think there’s a way to help it not gets raspberry tips if you don’t want it that color. I’m just not sure how...
If it doesn't harm him in any way then I'm fine with it being that color. I was just worried about it being an illness.

I have a couple brown leghorn that get massive combs, most of them get a little purple on the tips, it's perfectly normal, if the whole comb was purple then there's a problem

I was worried about the same thing today. I have a rooster that will be 1 year old on February 21st. I had never seen his comb with purple tips before. He’s only ever had bright beautiful red comb & waddle. So it was out of the ordinary for him. Glad to hear it’s not unusual. But I still feel like there must be something you can do (supplement, etc.) to prevent a lack of oxygen in chickens with large combs & waddles. 🤔 It’s not ideal, that is for sure. Even if it’s not a big health issue, as a whole.
