Rooster, day 5 afterfox attack, drooling, empty crop

Update: today he liftet his head higher then any of the previous days. He was standig kompletely upright. Only for a short period but that was again a victory for him. Today i could feel his krop better. He must have been very uncomfortable yesterday because there he didnt wanted me to touch his neck area. There is definately food in there. But his krop is feeling normal. Maybe it was sour krop after all and so big and filled that i couldn’t find it? I massaged it a bit today. His poop is a bit more loose today and there came more then the previous days. I gave him water but saw that some of that came out again when his head came down again. This is such a rollercoaster of emotions the whole time. Anyways his name is Bob, he’s 3 years old, very sweet with is ladies and offspring. Very handtame towards me and my family. That’s why i’m really trying to get him healthy again. Haven’t met many roosters that are as tame as he is. He’s weighing almost 5,5 kilo’s so he’s very impressive when he goes around in our yard.

Good luck to Bob. A good rooster is hard to find.
I had a chicken that sat huddled for 3 days in a corner after a raccoon got her. She had a really bad, gaping injury under her wing but I didn't see it....I just thought she was in shock and might die but she came out of it on her own. Chickens are amazing healers.

Another update. After someone wrote that bob is maybe giving up or missing gravel. I decided that it was time for Bob to go visit his ladies. It was a bit suny and not to fold so perfect for a trip in the garden. Even after 8 days his ladies were welcoming him. It let him stay 5 minutes supervised and then i took him back inside. After 2 hours of rest i went back outside with him and this time i let him 30 minutes outside. He foraged and drunk water without my help. He’s holding his head also a lot higher now. The first days he had it resting on the floor the whole time (even while standing). Now he had his head 10 cm from the floor most of the times and raising it completely up once and a while. He didn’t do the drooling thing anymore and has been eating alot. I think he’s on his wAy to recovery.

I think the stimulation of the flock can work wonders.
It can be important to isolate them, but they do need 'chicken company'.
