Rooster died, now what?

Hi everyone, sadly, I lost my 5 year-old rooster today, who I have had since about a year old. I have 6 hens and was just wondering if the hens are aware he is no longer there? I am not planning on getting another rooster, and I know animals will adjust, but I was just wondering behavior wise, what the board thought. Thanks again.

so sorry for your loss. 5-years is a long time.

IMO one of your hens will step up and be more watchful and authoritative in your flock. It will take them a bit of time to adjust.
