rooster digging up nest for hens

Lately, my rooster has been digging up a nest for my hens. He diggs a nice hole and then sits inside it with his tail sort of arched vertically and pushed up against the corner. He just sits there then after a bit moves away for one of my hens to sit inside it. Im not worried, just curious as to what he's doing.
he looks so cute sitting in the hole .

Just like when people are house shopping.

"Honey, I like this one. What do you think?"

aww that's so cute :love thank you for telling me I thought he was trying to lay an egg or something🤦‍♀️
They do theis when they want them to sit and hatch babies I don't know about just laying eggs. They also help sit on the nest and will bring their favorite hens food when she's sitting.
