I had a barnyard mix roo just drop dead here. No change in diet, surroundings and temp was steady 50s . His feathers were scattered everywhere, when I found him he wasn’t stiff yet and still warm. One part looked to have been pecked by other chickens. Not likely to have been a predator unless it was my guard dog which I highly doubt. I also have two Holstein heifer calves that could’ve stepped on him, but that wouldn’t explain the peck marks and scattered feathers. He probably weighed 7 pounds. My birds eat a mix of bird seed, black oil sunflower seeds, cat food, producers mini pellets, and corn when it’s cold. I have 5 other roosters and a bunch of hens and a guinea who could be suspects as well. Sometimes the roosters squabble with each other but have never seriously hurt each other. He was acting fine the morning before his death. Any ideas what killed him?

he's got a diarreah butt and the nostrils don't look right to me leading me to believe this was a disease. Not that I am that experienced or know what it could have been. Just my observation.
Sorry about him dying.

Idk if this is the case because of the time of year but bad lice infestations can kill birds and they’ll get a bare patch on there butt like that from them. You have to part there feathers good so you can see the skin but if that’s what it was you’ll be able to see them.

I check them all the time because I’m worried about it, he was lice free

I know this doesn’t usually happen to chickens, but sometimes birds can literally drop dead from fright/stress. Something could have spooked him, like a predator or if he was overly stressed from a chicken fight. He could have also collapsed a lung or air sac from fighting. That can kill birds pretty quick. Im sorry he passed :(
