ROOSTER DYING!

Help my rooster is not opening his eyes or moving around. He never lets me near him but I just checked around his vent and I think he has mites or lice or something. There’s clusters of eggs or something and they’re stuck to the shafts of feathers. Please help what do I do

Sorry your rooster is sick. Can you bring him inside and place him in a warm room? 80-85 degrees would be ideal. Once warmed up, that the lice with permethrin powder.

Thank you so much. I did as you said, wrapped him up in blankets and I ran to TSC and picked up some poultry dust. I got home and as I was applying it he passed away in my arms.

I’m so sorry for you’re loss. It sounds like you did all you could.

Sorry that you lost him. Mites can kill chickens by causing anemia, but lice are usually just a bother. He might have had some sort of illness that killed him. How old was he? Your state vet can do a necropsy on him tomorrow if you can keep his body refrigerated on ice in a cooler. Don’t freeze it. Here is a list of state vets to call:
