We came home to a big pile of feathers from our rooster. No body, just a pile of feathers. Any thoughts on what might have done this?

Yes. A fox is a predator that at least takes the chicken and eats it. A lot of others won't, snd you'd have to have a very large raptor to take away a rooster via air.A fox comes to mind.

Not always. When we had a raccoon problem last year, we would lose a bird or two a night, occasionally skipping a night.
