Rooster falling asleep standing up during broad daylight.

About 3 or 4 months ago, our neighbor gave us a rooster that had been injured in one of her rooster fights. At the time, we did not have a rooster, so we agreed to take him. He never properly healed. He walks funnily because some of the tendons in his legs broke, and we don't think they ever completely healed, so it isn't unusual that he is not moving around a lot. Today, I walked outside to let my chickens out of the run, and he was literally falling asleep standing up. As I'm typing, he is out there sleeping but he finally laid down. Is this normal behavior, that I have just never noticed? Or is he sick, and is there something I can do to make him better?
