I'm sure this has probably been answered before but I was wondering... Do you need a Rooster for your hens to lay eggs?

no you do not need a rooster for hens to lay eggs. you only need a rooster if you want to have chicks. but a rooster does have a job he is to protect the hens from danger and keep order in the flock. i had a rooster before i ever had my first hen just because i like to hear the crowing in the morning. but be careful if you have a rooster they can get mean so if you have children id keep him in a pen unless hes a real docile roo like mine is well like all of mine are i only keep the laid back ones

X2..no rooster needed. Those eggs will come down the pipe reguardless of whether you have a roo or not. BUT...they do make good protectors and keep the hens from picking on each other. But if you don't want one or can't keep one, no problem!
