So, Big Red fought a hawk under our deck today. Not sure if the hawk went under the deck willingly to try for a chicken or if Big Red drug it under there while fighting. Anyway, Big Red has a small cut on one leg. There's some blood but it's not really bleeding (as in running down his leg), he is not limping and has no other injuries. How worried should I be?
By the way, the hawk was injured too, and had great difficulty flying then landing in a tree. Well done, Big Red!

If you are worried about infection you could put some antibiotic cream on there. The spot should be covered so the other chickens don't peck at it. Blu Kote or a bandaid will work fine, they peck at blood. If it starts bleeding more you can use flour to stop it. You are lucky, he is a great rooster. Not many survive a hawk much less with such small injuries. I wouldn't worry too much about him, just keep an eye out.
