I have a flock of 26 birds. I have two roosters who were raised together. One is a Rhode Island Red and the other is a Buff Orpington. The buff whose name is Rex is a sweetheart, big and gentle and very calm. His wings are being pecked badly but we cannot find the culprit. When they are out in the yard all is well but when they go to the coop for the night he comes out in the morning all beat up. None of the other show any signs of being pecked. I have never seen Rex and the other rooster, Buster in any sort of confrontation. Should I separate him out for awhile. The hens love him and all want to sleep in his box. I sometimes think the hens are doing it to get his attention, is this possible?
