Our roo is sitting on the eggs with the hen and wont leave her alone to do her job. he's been sitting on the nest for about 2 weeks any ideas on what to do with the roo?? Let him be? Any advise much appreicated. we are newbies.

The chicken in my avatar picture is my rooster. He made the nest in the chicken box before the hens could get in there to do it.
Good luck on what to do with your rooster! I usually collect all the eggs my girls lay so I have not run into this problem before. =)

Are you sure he is a rooster? LOL. His behavior is not unheard of. Some roosters are very involved in the chick raising process. As long as the broody hen accepts his presence I'd leave him be.

Some roosters will go into a nest box and try to encourage the hens to go in and lay eggs. He just has some good instincts.

thanks, i just want to add that the eggs are fertile....I guess we will just let him be. :)

too bad he can't read, he'd jump out of that crispy chicken strip box really quick! lol

lol, I started laughing when I realized what the sticker on the box said. I kinda knew it when I grabbed it at Sam's Club, but it didn't sink in completely until I looked at the picture :)

Mine says Angry Orchard, but the chicken strips is great.
