Hi! I'm new to raising chickens, and my rooster has recently been having trouble seeing. I've noticed a yellow discharge from both of his eyes, and I'm also worried about the appearance of his comb and wattles. What could be causing this? Thanks!

Does he have a bad odor from his head, or does he have any signs of a respiratory disease, such as sneeze, cough, gasping, wheezing? Have you added any new birds to your flock recently? I would rinse his eyes with saline or Bausch and Lomb eye relief eye wash, and then apply Terramycin eye ointment or plain Neosporin into the eyes twice a day. He may be suffering from MG or coryza, two of the common respiratory sinus diseases. Tylosin powder in his water may treat MG, while sulfadimethoxine or SMZ-TMZ can treat coryza.
