Rooster has long spurs

Good Lord a saw blade, scares me let alone what it would do to my Roo since I am an inexperienced blade person, LOL Think I will just stick to clipping the tips and filing them.

Saw blade makes so process be repeated at about 2 year intervals. Rounding tip will require more frequent treatments. Based on their reactions to process as I do it, they do not have pain receptors in the spurs. Problems they have seem to be with the restraint which will be done when handling for tip round as well. Cutting with hacksaw is faster.

A really fine blade right? Guess I could wear some sturdy gloves in order not to get stung by the blade and the BIRD!! He is being really great with the hens now. So Glad. My Youngest Buff really rules the roost. Strong Strong personality. She knows when to back off though.

Fine tooth blade is my preference to give good clean cut. Best to have someone else hold bird during cutting process. If hands big like mine then you will be able to do it yourself later. Show picture of bird's spurs to see how close you are to optimal length for cutting. Bleeding should occur but will clot quickly and is seldom very much.
