Rooster has something in his face, looks like infection build up?

What do I do? Scrape it out and give antibiotics? It almost seems like canker?

The breath smells bad, he has some difficulty swallowing, and he does gasp a little.

I just had my dog die suddenly in my arms a couple weeks ago, I really truly do not want to cull my pet roo.

Does he stink? It appears to be canker, a protozoan infection.. If it is that, canker is carried by pigeons and wild birds drinking from waterers. I would disinfect the feeders and waterers. Separate him with his own feeder and waterer. Metronidazole or Aqua Zole available online is a treatment. Dosage is 50 mg per pound daily given by mouth or in his food, for 5-7 days.

I'm picking metronidazole (MetroPlex brand, I believe) from a pet store tomorrow, is there a different dosage for that?

The metronidazole dosage is 250 mg daily or 50 mg per pound, but if he is very large, it may be more. The acidified copper sulfate is mostly found online. It has to be acidified, so don’t use plain copper sulfate. Both links above for the medicines are the least expensive ones I found.

Also, could you get another picture or two of him showing the rest of his head, comb, and wattles? I was just wondering if he has bumps or blisters on his wattles and comb.
