My light Brahma rooster goes absolutely berserk every time he hears the little ones peeping in their pen. He runs over and tries to attack them. I have tried to get them accustomed to each other. I have put the 6 week old pullets in a crate in the big pen and have put them out free ranging together but the rooster attacks them as soon as they come out of the pen. They are now afraid to leave the coop to range. They just sit by the open door and look outside.

Any suggestions? I am considering culling the rooster. I don't want a rooster that will not accept chicks.

Any suggestions out there? Or is getting rid of him my only option? Our other rooster tries to intervene but since he is much smaller he can't stop the big one.

After a few days and he doesn't come around it's time to replace him. My roo can't stand chicks but after I slip my new chicks under a broody hen he behaves after getting flogged by the hen..

Are these chicks that were hatched/raised amongst his own flock? If so, I'd probably cull him. A roo killing off his own chicks is not a good roo. However, if these chicks weren't hatched/raised among his flock, then they're strangers to him and that's what his problem is. If you're looking for a roo that's just openly accepting (they supposedly exist), then cull him. Otherwise, I'd keep your chicks separate until they're of similar size with the rest of the flock and then work them in with a slow introduction like you should with any new flock member.
