This is something interestingly I’ve been seeing for the past few days. So, my RIR hen hatched two lovely chicks and is taking great care of them. Recently, I’ve noticed my Silke mix roo Beanie has been hanging around with the mum and her lil ones. And he doesn’t seem to have a malicious intent either. He’s a very sweet roo, the sweetest one I’ve ever had. All he does is walk around with them and eat with them, giving the hen enough space so she feels comfortable. I actually watched him when he was eating by himself and I wondered where the hen was so when he stopped eating and wandered off I saw him walk up a ways and the hen perked up when she saw him. I just thought it was interesting since I’m pretty sure both chicks are from my Barred rock roo and he doesn’t give two licks about them. Poor Beanie just wants to be loved by the other chickens!
