About a week ago our rooster survived skunks attack with only a loss of a spur (last Thursday). I took him inside and cleaned and wrapped his wound and by Tuesday he seemed well enough to go back outside. He and the other rooster had some fights that day and it was established he was no longer the head rooster. Today I noticed that he was crowing weird and just seemed pretty withdrawn which I chalked up to losing the alpha status. When I went to put the birds to bed I noticed he was missing and found him laying in the barn on some hay wheezing. His face seems to have black gunk around it (don't know if its dirt?) and he just is wheezing and seeming having a hard time catching his breath. We brought him inside the house and are trying to figure out what is wrong with him to help him feel better. I've seen him today eating and drinking so he doesn't seem to have a loss of appetite... Could is be possible his spur wound got infected? What can we do to treat him?? ANY HELP/SUGGESTIONS APPRECIATED.
