A teacher friend asked me for some fertile eggs to hatch in her kindergarden class. I have 27 hens and a 1 year old EE roo and a 3-4 year old bantum roo. Most of the hens are 3 year old White Rocks and EEs, a few are younger, a few are older. She needs them in a week. How many hens to the roosters should I put together to in sure the eggs are fertile? She is excited about getting a mixed variety of chicks from different color eggs and already has a home for them.

Thanks, Lisa

I like 9 to 12 hens in with my rooster when looking for good fertility....

Thanks, I'll seperate out about half of the girls tonight. By the way I've been on this forum about a month and apperciate your advice. I've had chickens about 40 years now and always learn something new.
