Hi, welcome to the forum! Glad you joined! And congratulations on those chicks. It is a great feeling when they hatch.


Some people worry about that but I don't. The best I can tell, commercial hatcheries don't worry about it either. Some of them hatch 1,000,000 chicks each week so I figure they know what they are doing.

No matter what you do something can go wrong. One thing I had happen once is that an egg got cupped in a half-shell from a previously hatched chick so the chick in that egg would have had trouble pipping or zipping if it tried that where the shell overlapped. I consider something like that to be such a rare occurrence that it isn't something I worry about. If it happens I deal with it.

Haha there were seven eggs, but I was pretty sure one of them had died in the eggs , but I left it in anyway since I wasn't entirely sure, and it didn't have a smell or anything. I was correct, and it did not hatch, but I have six beautiful kids chicks!
