Rooster=hens=how long til chicks?

Thanks for the pic Cynthia. I want to make sure I see the white spot/ring. In the pic above, there appears to be a face in the yolk..like the man in the moon. Is the spot you refer to the 'nose' on the face I'm seeing?

If so, that's what I found a minute ago when I broke open a barred rock egg laid today.

Does that mean these eggs are capable of hatching a chick?

It is only possible if you either incubate them or a hen sets them. Just in general you don't have to worry about 'chicks' in your eating eggs. You have to work a bit to start that process.

I had to go back and look to see the 'face', LOL. Yes, it's the nose on the face, that round spot with the circle around it. If it was INfertile, there would only be a white spot with no circle.
