Rooster highrise condo...what do you think??*** PICS ADDED 3/21 ***

Pretty slick. I like the idea.

I don't think the tape is going to work well over time though. You might want to find some very thin sheet metal, something like the heavy disposable aluminum roasting pans from the grocery store or something similar, to cut out, fold over, and use for your door edgings.

Does this mean you'll have birds for sale soon?

.....Alan.

I'm starting to think of all the possibilities...

I could have chicks in one of the spaces and roos in the others...or I could make another one like this and put it away from the main pen and run areas for quarantine...or inside for sick birds...or somewhere to put birds that you are getting ready for a show...or a great place for broody hens while they sit on eggs (take them out once or twice a day for a few minutes and let them dust bathe)...

As soon as I figure out how to safely incorporate heat lamps into this design, I'm making one for a stacked brooder!
The nasty, wet little ducklings can go in the bottom compartments, and the sweet little chicks can go up on top (instead of in the spare bathroom)!

Annarie...I was thinking the same thing about how to warm it. How about some kind of reptile warmer? Like this:

Do you think it would radiate enough heat downward? Of course, you could always cover the back and side with clear plastic on the outside to help hold in the heat if the room is cold.

I tell ya' I'm getting more and more excited about these ideas. A GREAT broody palace. Don't have to go far for food and water. I'm going to put large cage cups on the inside for food and water...or maybe rabbit waterers and make a tube feeder from PVC that can be filled from the outside.

Very smart idea! Hmmm dh has some of those shelves in the garage LOL! I used stick on tiles in the large brooder we made and I didnt glue them well enough to the wood and now they are all coming up because the boogers keep spilling thier water. Make sure yours gets glued down better than mine did. Next time I think I will use or a solid sheet of linoleum and cut it to size. Congrats on your dd coming home. Mine wants to become a linguist and join the Air Force after she graduates HS.

Tell her to make good grades in school and do VERY well on the ASVAB. Then there is another test they take and they have to do well on that to be a linguist. My daughter qualified but wanted to be an intelligence analyst. There's a lot of competition for those specialties in the military. Be proud...sounds like she's got a good head on her shoulders.

Sorry if I missed it but what did you use for the floor of the cages. I need to make one like that for in my quail coop. Then Matt could have more quail. LOL.
