rooster in nest box

My rooster made hen noises and got in the nest box. He is sitting on eggs. Why? Is he saying this is a good spot?

He's telling any girl who'll listen that he found a good spot for her to lay an egg. I've never had a roo do this before this winter, one of my BCM boys now decided to take it upon himself to do this, I think its pretty darn cute. Especially when he has a girl sitting practically on top of him and he's coo-ing happily.

When I first brought my mixed age flock home the rooster got in the nest box for an hour or so talking non stop.
I didn't know it at the time, but he was telling the girls 'Hey, these are nice nest boxes!'

I had at that time the partitions out from between 2 of the nests, otherwise he might not have fit in there....and the hens quickly complied by laying me some eggs within 24 hours of their arrival.
