Rooster is a picky eater?

My red sex link rooster is isolated in his own pen and coop. I feed him cracked corn and starting to feed him crumble. Usually he needs a day or two to eat all his food and any table scraps (bread, lettuce, egg shells) he refuses to eat! Sometimes he flat out refuses to eat the scraps where as the big flock devour the same foods
I do hear high pitched clucking when he gets table scraps so I think he is trying to call hens from the big flock maybe??

Sounds like you're right. He's trying to keep the lady's attention. He is probably thinking more about the lady's attention than eating. He will be just fine.

My roosters often don't eat table scraps that my hens eat. I think they're just a bit more picky about their food.
