Help, our favorite rooster is bloated, lethargic and wont move, comb is tilted to the side and has a tarish,Gray and white diarrhea. All of our chickens are fine. I will admit, my kids feed them some bread that had a hard crust. He grabbed a large piece! all he is doing is lying down. The bread was given two days ago. I noticed him being ill this am.

Welcome to BYC! Sorry bout your Rooster. Was the bread moldy? If so he may have sour crop or he may have a bacterial infection. If you aren't too up on chicken physiology it would be dangerous to medicate that rooster on your own. Do you have any one close that can come over and help you out?

Thank for replying,
No, the bread was not molding, but it was panera bread. He is still eating and drinking when it is giving to him. He will not get up to feed or drink himself.

See what is involved in sending your bird in for a necropsy at the state lab. It may take a while to get an answer but it would help you immensely when it comes to understanding what happened and how to prevent it in the future.
