Hi

My rooster has been battling this disease for a while now. He chatters a lot. Sometimes acts like he is choking or gasping for air. His skin is very flaky all over his body. I isolated him and then brought him back outside twice. He did fine until it got really cold. Both time he was laying on the ground gasping for air almost dead. I brought him back inside and in a couple hours he was doing better. With in days he was back to normal although still chattering and having flaky skin. I am currently treating him with acidified copper sulfate. Since I believe it is sour crop. His crop is very inflamed. But I still don’t think it’s doing the job. I have two hens that also seem to gasp for air and chatter. The chickens don’t have mites. I’ve treated the coop with diatomaceous earth twice. There are no worms or parasites in the droppings. I’ve checked the insides of there mouth and don’t see spots or lesions. I do notice white stuff on the combs though. This started in December and is still on going. I’ve already lost one hen to this. I would appreciate any advice. Thank you!
