Rooster is killing my hens

Eat him. A good rooster cares for his girls, gives them snacks, warns them when danger is near, and most importantly - a good rooster respects his hens. I'm going to be brutally honest and say that you have a crappy rooster on your hands. I would put him down or eat him. Welcome to BYC! I'm so sorry you and your girls girls are going through this💙 best of luck

Can't forget he shows them the nesting boxes!

x2 what everyone here is saying.

1) Make sure that he is killing them (have you seen him attack your hens? is there any way a predator could be getting into your coop or are there any signs of disease?)

2) If you are sure he's killing them, cull him. I wouldn't rehome an aggressive rooster like that. We've only had three roosters in our eight years of having chickens and for the most part they were afraid of our hens, but also protective of them. I wouldn't tolerate anything that killed or attacked my chickens, even other hens.

I stuck an 18 week old cockerel in with an older pullet.. First thing he did was go after her with his feet. She went and hid in her bucket and he pulled her out by the neck feathers and kicked her again.. I was johnny on the spot and pulled her out.. then stuck him in isolation until my cull guy could come pick him up. No reason whatsoever to keep a cockerel/roo like that.. You don't want to breed those genes either.
