Rooster is mating with hens a little bit too much!

hello everyone my hens are getting raped too much so that you can see the skin! And feathers are coming out one roo this is his first spring and he just won’t give them a break I love him though he’s the sweetest little guy (to people) I thought about chicken saddles but I don’t know if that would be the right thing to do I don’t wanna lock him up in our coop eather can I have some advice please!?

And just the one rooster? Roosters mate chickens, not “rape” them. In the spring their hormones are on overload. The baldness bothers you more than it does your chickens. The only way to make it stop is to separate him, but he won’t be very happy about it.

Yeah, roosters will do that, especially the younger ones. Get the hens some saddles until he chills out.
Also, rape is a uniquely human concept and not an accurate term here.

The only thing that I know to do is to separate the rooster from the hens until they feather back in. You could get more hens, but my roosters have "favorites" and they will harass them no matter how many hens they have access to. Sooo...

My roo is a huge EE and my girls are I have
1 New Hampshire red (gets mated with a lot)
1 Andalusian(not too much because she’s to tiny he will fall of LOL)
2 barred rocks one is too big boned LOL and the other (gets mated with )
1 Dominic (a lot)
1 golden laced Wyandotte (a lot)
1EE ( a lot)
1light Brahma (a lot)

So this actually helped me learn he chooses favorites

Wouldn’t worry unless you start noticing scars and large gashes,that’s the issue.The baldness and rough mating is all natural.
