Well, I had hoped that my first post would be something more fun and positive, but my rooster has a problem and I'm hoping for some ideas.
He is a Red Star, about 16 wks old, lives in a brand new coop with 7 hens of same age but they free range part of the day. He is eating, crowing, and otherwise acting ok.
Problem: a week or so ago we commented that he looked like he was bow-legged or as my husband said, "pigeon toed" but he strutted around the yard just fine. In past several days he gradually started to limp on the one leg which looks a little crooked compared to the other leg. No visable signs of swellings, scabs or anything else. Today I left him in the coop and he is standing around, holding up the bad leg although still crowing away. Toes are straight out, not curled. They eat a 16% feed from TSC plus some scratch and occasional fruit and such in addition to free ranging.
Here is a pic taken just yesterday, you can sortof see how his right leg is crooked as he stands.
I appreciate any suggestions or help. These are my first chickens and have been enjoying them immensely. My husband built me a great coop, I'll post pics at another time. The hens have begun to lay and the whole little flock is friendly and fun to watch.
